What do I need to get started?

If you want to design in The Wild, you'll need a VR headset and an internet connection.

If you want to view The Wild, all you need is an internet connection* and a PC or Mac that meets the minimum viewer specifications (see below). 

If you want to create and edit content in The Wild, you need an internet connection, a VR headset (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Windows Mixed Reality), and a PC that can run it.

If you have an Oculus Quest, you just need your Quest and an internet connection*.

*Recommend 4Mbps upload and download minimum. Check your internet speed at www.speedtest.net. 

VR Headsets

You'll need a headset with tracked controllers and 6DoF. Here are a few that we work with regularly and recommend:

  • HTC Vive
  • Oculus Rift
  • Samsung Odyssey+ (Windows Mixed Reality)
  • Oculus Quest 

Minimum Requirements for running The Wild:

Desktop Mode (PC)

  • Video Card: NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB / AMD HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, *11)
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer

Desktop Mode (Mac)

  • 2016 or newer
  • CPU: 2.8GHz processor
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • OS: macOS High Sierra or newer
  • Radeon or AMD GPU

Virtual Reality (PC only)

  • Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 1070 equivalent or greater
  • CPU: Intel i7-6700 equivalent or greater
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Video Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • USB: Ports 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer
